DIY Cockroach Repellent (Borax/Boric Acid + Sugar)

If you’re dealing with cockroaches in your home, this simple homemade mixture can help reduce the infestation when used correctly.

What you’ll need:

– 1 part borax powder (or boric acid)
– 1 part white sugar

Directions:

1. Mix equal amounts of borax powder (or boric acid) and white sugar until well combined.
2. Sprinkle a very thin layer where cockroaches usually travel, such as:
– Along skirting boards
– Under the sink
– Behind the fridge and stove
– Behind cupboards
– Around cracks and crevices
3. Leave the powder undisturbed for several days.
4. Reapply after cleaning or if the powder gets wet.

How it works:
The sugar attracts the cockroaches, while the borax or boric acid affects them after they eat it. Over time, this can help reduce the cockroach population.

Important safety tips:

– Keep the mixture away from children and pets.
– Do not place it on food preparation surfaces.
– Avoid breathing in the powder.
– Wash your hands after handling it.

A clean home combined with sealing cracks, storing food in airtight containers, and fixing water leaks will give you the best results.
