Bacon and Tomato Sandwiches

Step 1: Cook the bacon
Place the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook for about 4–6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess grease.

Step 2: Prepare the tomatoes
Wash and slice the tomatoes into medium-thick slices. Lightly season both sides with a little salt and freshly ground black pepper. Let them sit for a few minutes, then gently pat away any excess moisture with a paper towel.

Step 3: Toast the bread
Toast all 8 slices of bread until lightly golden and crisp around the edges. If desired, spread a thin layer of butter over the warm toast for extra flavor.

Step 4: Add the mayonnaise
Spread about ½ tablespoon of mayonnaise over one side of each slice of toasted bread.

Step 5: Layer the lettuce
Place a lettuce leaf over four slices of bread. The lettuce creates a fresh, crisp layer between the bread and tomatoes.

Step 6: Add the tomatoes
Arrange the tomato slices evenly over the lettuce. Season with another small pinch of black pepper if desired.

Step 7: Add the bacon
Place two slices of crispy bacon over the tomatoes on each sandwich. Break the bacon into smaller pieces if necessary so every bite gets plenty of that smoky, crunchy flavor.

Step 8: Finish the sandwiches
Top each sandwich with another slice of toasted bread, mayonnaise-side down.

Step 9: Slice and serve
Gently press each sandwich together and slice in half. Serve immediately while the bacon is still warm and crisp.

This simple bacon and tomato sandwich proves that you don’t need complicated ingredients to make an unforgettable meal. The combination of crunchy toast, creamy mayonnaise, fresh lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and crispy bacon is a timeless favorite.
