Cheesy Herb Stuffed Flatbreads

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast.
  • Add the warm milk and vegetable oil.
  • Mix until a soft dough forms.

Step 2: Knead

  • Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place it in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Step 3: Prepare the Filling

  • In a medium bowl, combine the mozzarella, feta (if using), green onions, parsley, oregano, and black pepper.
  • Mix well.

Step 4: Divide the Dough

  • Punch down the risen dough.
  • Divide it into 8–10 equal pieces.
  • Roll each piece into a ball.

Step 5: Fill the Flatbreads

  • Flatten each dough ball into a small circle.
  • Place 2–3 tablespoons of the cheese filling in the center.
  • Fold the edges over the filling and pinch tightly to seal.
  • Gently flatten into a thick round or oval shape.

Step 6: Cook

  • Heat a lightly greased non-stick skillet over medium-low heat.
  • Cook each flatbread for 4–5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Brush with melted butter immediately after cooking for extra flavor.

Step 7: Serve

  • Serve warm while the cheese is melted and gooey.
  • Enjoy with plain yogurt, sour cream, garlic sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips

  • Add chopped spinach or sautéed mushrooms to the filling for extra flavor.
  • For a spicy twist, mix in a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes or diced jalapeños.
  • These flatbreads can also be baked at 375°F (190°C) for 18–20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in a skillet or oven for the best texture.
