Fluffy dumplings swimming in warm golden syrup.

With creamy custard on the side.

This is pure comfort in a bowl.

Golden Syrup Dumplings

Serves 4

Ingredients:

β€’ 1 cup Flour

β€’ 2 tsp Baking Powder

β€’ 2 tbsp Sugar

β€’ Pinch of Salt

β€’ 3 tbsp Butter

β€’ 1/2 cup Milk

Syrup:

β€’ 1 cup Golden Syrup

β€’ 1 cup Water

β€’ 2 tbsp Butter

Serve with: Creamy Custard or Ice Cream

Instructions:

1. Dumplings: Mix dry. Rub in butter. Add milk to form dough.

2. Syrup: Simmer syrup, water + butter in pot.

3. Cook: Drop spoonfuls of dough into syrup. Cover 15-20 min. Don’t peek!

4. Serve: Hot with custard and dusted sugar.

American Tip:

If you can’t find golden syrup, use light corn syrup + a bit of molasses. And the secret is keeping the lid on!
