Heart-Shaped Egg-in-a-Hole Breakfast Toast

Step 1: Cut the Heart Shape

Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter or a small knife, cut a heart out of the center of each bread slice.

Save the heart-shaped bread pieces for toasting.

Step 2: Toast the Bread

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.

Add the butter and let it melt.

Place the bread slices and the heart cut-outs into the skillet.

Toast for about 1 minute.

Step 3: Cook the Egg

Carefully crack one egg into the heart-shaped opening of each slice.

Season with salt and black pepper.

Cook for 2–3 minutes until the egg begins to set.

Flip carefully (optional) for an over-easy egg, or cover the pan with a lid and cook until the yolk reaches your preferred doneness.

Sprinkle with chopped chives or parsley before serving.

Step 4: Heat the Baked Beans

Warm the baked beans in a small saucepan over medium heat for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 5: Prepare the Sides

Cook the sausages according to the package directions, then slice into bite-sized rounds.

Slice the cucumber and halve the cherry tomatoes.

Toast the remaining bread slices until golden brown.

Step 6: Assemble the Plate

Arrange on a serving plate:

  • Heart-shaped egg toast
  • Warm baked beans
  • Toasted bread slices
  • Sliced sausage
  • Fresh cucumber
  • Cherry tomatoes

Serve immediately while everything is warm.

Tips for the Best Breakfast

  • Use thick-cut bread so the egg stays inside the heart shape.
  • Cover the skillet with a lid to cook the egg evenly without flipping.
  • Add a slice of cheese over the egg during the last minute for extra richness.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs or a pinch of paprika for added flavor.
