Ingredients
For the basic cookie dough:
250g butter (softened)
150g sugar (powdered sugar works best)
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
350g all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Pinch of salt
For variations:
2 tablespoons cocoa powder (chocolate cookies)
Strawberry or raspberry jam (thumbprint cookies)
White chocolate + colorful sprinkles (decorated cookies)
Method
1. Prepare the dough
Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add eggs and vanilla extract, then mix well.
Add flour, baking powder, and salt gradually.
Mix until a soft cookie dough forms.
2. Divide and flavor
Split dough into portions.
Add cocoa powder to one portion for chocolate cookies.
Keep one portion plain for butter cookies.
Prepare some dough for jam-filled cookies.
3. Shape the cookies
Roll dough and cut into shapes.
Make small thumbprints and fill with jam.
Shape rings or rectangles for decorated cookies.
4. Bake
Place cookies on a lined baking tray.
Bake at 170°C (340°F) for 12–15 minutes until lightly golden.
5. Decorate
Dip some cookies in melted white chocolate.
Add colorful sprinkles.
Allow chocolate to set.
6. Serve
Arrange assorted cookies on a plate and enjoy with tea, coffee, or milk.
Yield: About 40–50 assorted cookies
Storage: Keep in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
