Social media posts often claim that a homemade drink made with garlic, ginger, and lemon can “clean your arteries,” restore circulation in 30 days, or make your heart as healthy as when you were young. There is no scientific evidence that any drink can remove plaque from arteries or reverse heart disease in a month.
However, these ingredients can be part of a heart-healthy diet.
Can This Drink “Clean” Your Arteries?
No.
Arteries do not become clean simply by drinking a homemade juice. Plaque buildup (atherosclerosis) develops over many years and is influenced by factors such as:
- High LDL (“bad”) cholesterol
- High blood pressure
- Diabetes
- Smoking
- Lack of exercise
- Family history
Managing these risk factors with healthy habits and, when needed, medications is the most effective way to protect your heart.
